Gavin Blench

Gavin Blench originally studied Sculpture at Bretton Hall and is also a member of Dartington printmakers.
His current painting practice was born out of the onset of disability, (progressive MS). Inevitably the landscape he loves is becoming more inaccessible to him. The boundaried constraints of disability juxtapose to the wide expanses of the imagination.
‘I am attempting to connect to larger frameworks of place and time, as my physical engagement with the world diminishes and my approaching mortality becomes more apparent. The act of painting allows me to dance with these losses with more grace’

Feeling the love

We spent some time looking for someone who could produce some solid wooden frames to mount our medals in. James, listened carefully to what we wanted and made us the exact high-quality frame we needed. Since then, we re-order every couple of weeks including some complex bespoke frames. We have been working together for about 10 years and I couldn’t recommend The Framing Centre highly enough.

Artmill Gallery & Framing Centre are our go to framers for The Arts Institute, University of Plymouth. They have a particular empathy for artists requirements and always produce work to the highest quality. Many of our exhibiting artists have been so impressed with the outcome that they go on to use Artmill for all their work.
