Paintings describe subjective and abstracted landscapes defining traces of ancient habitation and agriculture, which over the period of
time have been incorporated into the topography by climatic and geological erosion and are now often partially covered by field and linear boundary shapes resulting from the introduction of the Enclosure Acts over the past two centuries.
Using references of on-site drawings, photographs and O.S maps an image is produced on board, Watercolour paper or canvas using layers of translucent oil or Acrylic colour abraded and re-applied over inscribed and drawn linear marks. Small landscape works on paper or card are made using paint, ink and graphite and often over-painted with Shellac to give an aged time worn appearance.
